Newsletter December 11, 2017

Dear St. Raphael School Families and Friends,

Our thoughts and prayers are with all of the people in Ventura, Santa Paula and Ojai who were affected by the Thomas Fire. May they find peace and comfort in the generosity of our communities and feel the strength of our Lord Jesus Christ.

As we enter this second week of Advent, we re-light the candle of hope and now also light the second purple candle of love. We know that God is love. We remember with thankful hearts the gift of Jesus, who came as a babe in a manger, lived and loved among us, was killed on a cross, and rose! Love endures forever.  We must think of Mary and her anticipation as she awaited the birth of Our Lord and Savior. In a similar manner we should be anticipating and preparing the way of the Lord. Mary was willing to do whatever God wanted of her. She is a good example for us to follow. Who are some of the other good examples in our lives? May we always thank God for being there to help us along our way in this life. Hoping and praying that this season of Advent brings us all closer to Jesus.

We had a beautiful Mass to honor our Blessed Mother on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception on Friday.   Monsignor Jon reminded us how much Mary loves us and how God created her to be the Mother of Jesus. Hail Mary, full of Grace!

Our annual school Christmas program is on Thursday, December 15th at 6:00 pm in the church. You will want to mark your calendars for this beautiful celebration. The title of the show is “Special Delivery: Wrapped in the Father’s Love.”

It’s not too late to receive daily emails from our new Bishop during this beautiful season of Advent. You can sign up for free at Join Bishop Robert Barron and thousands of others in this beautiful time of waiting and anticipation for the birth of Jesus!

We are dismissed for Christmas vacation on Friday, December 15th at noon. Wishing you a blessed Advent Season and a very Merry Christmas!
